Overview / Responsibilities Wood is currently recruiting for a Procurement Lead to join our team in the Melbourne Office. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the successful candidate will lead the Procurement for projects at Port Moresby, Hides and other project locations in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Experience working on PNG Projects or in PNG is preferable but not mandatory. Responsibilities Manage a team of Buyers / Material Controllers based in Melbourne & PNG Interface with the Project team in Melbourne to get an alignment on resource requirements. Continually review team size and manage hiring of additional resources as required, both in Melbourne & PNG Assist with development of Project Procurement Plans Development of bidder lists and sourcing strategies in accordance with client requirements; Continually look at developing in-country vendor / fabricator base for supply in accordance with client project requirements Build and maintain strong relationships with internal customers and external customers; Initiate and participate in the prequalification and approval of new suppliers, followed by ongoing supplier management Issuance of Request for Quote packages and commercial assessment of vendor bids ensuring optimum value for the client as a result of thorough technical and commercial bid evaluations Manage supplier negotiations ensuring accurate interpretation and definition of agreed terms pre-award along with contract management post-award Provide procurement support to projects through the procurement and expedition of materials and vendor data on schedule and within cost to contribute to the successful delivery of multiple projects; Co-ordinate with Freight forwarders for timely shipment, clearance at PNG port and delivery to designated yard Issue Procurement reports providing visibility on all aspects of Procurement to respective Project teams. Participate in Project meetings Purchasing material for multiple engineering functions (electrical, piping, mechanical and structural) Manage and mitigate commercial issues with suppliers Timely processing and resolution vendor invoices. Continually monitor for timely processing of vendor Invoices, resolution of bottle necks to ensure payment in accordance with agreed terms Work closely with the Quality Department to assist with coordinating inspection requirements post and prior to PO placement; Assisting with creating and managing schedules, budgets, forecasting, and reporting; Facilitate technical discussions between Wood Engineers and Vendor Engineers; Ensuring compliance to client's execution plan and overall Wood Supply-Chain Policies and Procedures Assisting with managing surplus materials through buy back agreements and / or surplus disposal plans Maintaining an auditable file of all purchase order documentation / correspondence; Timely close out of projects and purchase orders Identify and report procurement cost saving initiatives. Skills / Qualifications Minimum of 15 years' experience in related buying & procurement positions for large EPC projects in the oil & gas industry. Should have managed teams based at multiple locations on Major EPC Projects The individual should have varied and detailed work experience in the industry and a detailed knowledge of suppliers, commercial evaluations, negotiation and terms & conditions of purchase Advanced Microsoft Office skills Experience with VPRM (preferred) - Oracle.
