The Company My client operates a unique food processing business supplying premium health food products nationally. The organisation is well established in their market and is continuing to grow with strong demand across Australia, through a diverse product range. This has resulted in the need for an Inventory Controller to join a small but growing team in the Dandenong region. The Role Reporting to the Site Manager, you will own the inventory function from raw material to finished product & distribution. Your role will include but not limited to; Purchase raw product from both domestic &international suppliers Negotiate with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of product Identify areas for improvement and implement new processes within the inventory/warehouse function Oversee all day to day inventory management activities to ensure product availability to a wide customer network. Ensure optimal inventory levels are held to reduce inventory value whilst increasing service levels to customer. Ensure stock is available to mitigate risk due to fluctuations in demand, while also monitoring slow moving stock holding. Processing customer orders, picking and allocating parts for jobs, correctly labeling and preparing for dispatch Management of freight forwarders to ensure DIFOT is reached Your Background A driven individual with excellent communication skills who can operate effectively in a small close-knit team You will ideally have at least three years experience in a inventory/warehouse management role within a small to medium Food processing organisation - ideally with Cold Chain experience Experience in managing new and existing suppliers in an international context Experience with dispatch/logistics is highly advantageous Systems savvy with a penchant for process improvement Strong transactional skills and excellent attention to detail What's on offer? The Role Reporting to the Production Manager in this fast paced environment your focus will be on: Manage the team of 3 using coaching, developing, delegation and recognition to ensure they have the capability to meet performance goals Manage and monitor operational areas performance levels, ensuring they are meeting Safety and Product Quality KPI’s Implement and monitor strategies to reduce staff turnover and ensure labour cost base is productive, efficient and cost competitive Driving a safety first culture, 5S and better machine uptime Improve engagement and culture through leadership, training and being a good mentor for the production team.
