Mechanical Engineering Technologist $80,000.00 to 90,000.00 p/a based on experience

Metal Machinist / Laser Operator $54,000.00 to 56,000.00 p/a based on experience

We are located in South Brisbane and are one of Australia’s leading metal processing companies who have a reputation of delivering products of the highest quality.

Currently seeking to expand and we are looking fill the above two positions in our company.

You will be required to be competent in following tasks and duties

Mechanical Engineering Technologist

  • Perform maintenance and minor works programs at a high standard within the established budgets and time frames, to achieve maximum output from machinery, including being the primary contact for after hour call outs.
  • Supervise TPM work on machinery and equipment as per the scheduled times as well as record keeping of TPM’s
  • Coordination of preventative maintenance with Suppliers as required according to maintenance schedules;
  • Assist operators in diagnosing and correcting machine errors and faults
  • Maintain the operation of machines to perform in the most effective manner, through reduced downtimes;
  • Provide timely diagnosis of machine failure, coordinate repair via Supplier service technician visits, spare parts sourcing, requisition of these requirements, coordination and direct oversight of technicians on site and reporting on status of machines and expected repair time to Flat Team Leader and/or Production Manager
  • Liaise with management, through the Production Manager, regarding operating, mechanical and maintenance issues with machines and equipment, issues that would prevent maximum benefit from available machine time.
  • To ensure that all machine errors, corrective and preventative actions are recorded in corresponding Machine Logs
  • To work with the Production Manager in establishing maintenance plans, ensuring that all maintenance tasks are carried out safely and in turn maximizing efficiency and value;
  • Notify the Production Manager and/or Systems Engineer of any modifications, incidents and occurrences which may affect the Company’s ability to meet their health and safety obligations;
  • Actively follow up actions through regular reviews with Team Leaders regarding maintenance issues that came through toolbox talks
  • Actively identify and participate in implementing lean projects within the production department as agreed with the Production Manager
  • Provide support across any shift to ensure operational targets are meet by phone and if required, in person. This includes staff rostering issues, maintenance, opening/closing and operational decisions as required to support operational targets.

Metal Machinist / Laser Operator

  • To ensure that the laser machines are utilized to their optimum capacity through:
  • Effective and efficient operation of the machine;
  • o Identification and Organization of materials requirements on a just-in-time basis; and
  • The implementation of and adherence to Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) procedures;
To maximise factory throughput by assisting workmates to achieve their production goals;
  • To guarantee that the production of components conform to the production schedule
  • To follow and adhere to all Operating and Quality Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • To keep to housekeeping and safety procedures for maintaining a clean, tidy and safe work environment.
  • To assure that all components manufactured keep to customer specifications, as listed in customer specification sheets and/or drawings, and that components comply with the appropriate quality standards;
  • To provide ongoing recommendations relating to machining and set-up to improve and/or maintain product quality and productivity level; and
  • To provide information of issues that may arise pertaining to the laser-cutting machines, their parts and components, operation, safety and product quality.
  • Assist the Production Supervisor in performing maintenance and minor works programs at a high standard within the established budgets and time frames, to achieve maximum output from machinery;
  • Enforce TPM works on laser cutting machinery and equipment, together with the completion of TPM cards;
  • Assist operators in diagnosing and correcting laser machine errors and faults;
  • logging of all machine errors, corrective and preventative actions;

Essential Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering Technologist
    • o AQF Diploma of Engineering (Technical) or higher OR a minimum of 3 years relevant experience at the appropriate skilled level
  • Metal Machinist / Laser Operator
    • o AQF Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade) plus 2 years experience at the appropriate skilled level OR a minimum of 3 years relevant experience at the appropriate skilled level
  • Strong commitment to work
